We have all heard the stories of contractors running off with money so now you know to watch out for this guy. I gave him 6000 dollar deposit to install backup generator on 10/18/22 that same day he picked up check he said generator would be delivered in one week but he would need till 11/15//22 to have it completely installed and I agreed but neither of the two ever happened. he took my money with no intention of doing job and I can prove it with very little problems at all. this man lied to me at my table and did not do any work in my house except to extend arm to grab the check oh and he also signed his own contract. I have contacted him for refund and he said he would but he has not, now he does not take calls or return texts forcing me to take legal action, very sad and pathetic situation so please be careful with him and anyone else, the work is turning into a trash can because of people like this.
The question is great for some industries and non-applicable for others. A general contractor, for example, will by definition employ subcontractors. Most Fall River Home Security companies do not, but there are exceptions. You should always ask this question to your service providers. If they do use subcontractors, ask if they're all licensed and insured independently.
Some companies may require a 10% deposit, some may not require any. For larger projects, you'll almost always need to give a deposit, and it's good to ask how much the deposit will be before going forward with a project. The Fall River contractor will know how much they need for a deposit when they've given you the estimate, so ask early.
Always ask for references, and always check them. Keep in mind though that the only references you'll get are people who the contractor is certain will give him a good review. You'd also be well advised to check online review sources in Fall River as well, which will give you a broader view of customer satisfaction for a given company.
This is very important, since an estimate is just that. Many contractors will submit a "paper estimate", meaning they've written the estimate down on paper. The bill is the true amount owed and will almost always say "Invoice" or "Bill" at the top of the page. The bill should also list the date it was issued, the due date of payment, and a list of services rendered.
