If I could give negative stars, I would. TERRIBLE experience. It wasn't that there was a lack of communication, there was NO COMMUNICATION from Chris Mullen. He cancelled on us three times. When he finally decided on a time to come out, he sent one of his contractors who scribbled down measurements and never took pictures of our door that needed to be replaced. We texted him numerous times and heard back from him whenever he felt like it. We were scheduled for him to come out and replace our door and he said he would follow up with us to let us know our door came in. We had to reach out to him, twice, and when we heard back from him after three days, he told us that our door "may" come in on Monday. Low and behold, Monday morning comes and our door is "not on the truck." After telling him how ridiculously unprofessional he was and how horrible our experience with him was, we cancelled our order and our work with him. His response? "OK." No apology, no offer to reschedule, nothing. I highly doubt he actually even ordered our door. I have no idea how this man is actually in business or makes any money. HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
These first two questions should only relate to services or good purchased directly from the service provider. Many products carry their own warranties, like roofing shingles or siding. It's useful to know what these warranties cover as well as how long they last. The "warranty agent" question is important, because often warranty agents work with the manufacturer to get you repairs under warranty at a much lower price.
This is very important, since an estimate is just that. Many contractors will submit a "paper estimate", meaning they've written the estimate down on paper. The bill is the true amount owed and will almost always say "Invoice" or "Bill" at the top of the page. The bill should also list the date it was issued, the due date of payment, and a list of services rendered.
You'll certainly want to ask them this. Steer clear of any company that is not insured in Pennsylvania, because that means that any incidental damage they may do on your property will be a real hassle to recover compensation for. It is never wise to work with uninsured tradesmen of any kind. Most states also require that someone have insurance in order to be issued a trade license. If they say they're licensed but not insured, they're being less than truthful.
Always ask for references, and always check them. Keep in mind though that the only references you'll get are people who the contractor is certain will give him a good review. You'd also be well advised to check online review sources in Willow Grove as well, which will give you a broader view of customer satisfaction for a given company.
This will be answered when you ask if all employees are licensed. The only way to obtain a legitimate tradesman's license is to be a legal or naturalized citizen of the US. The company may employ people in positions that don't require a license, however, so it's wise to inquire.
