We all love a nice decor trend, and this year Pantone really got it right with their pick for color of the year. In case you’re missing out on that, the color in question is: Ultra Violet! They said they chose this color because it represents “innovation, luxury, and a breath of fresh air.” Uniek Swain says it all when he quotes:
"All the other colors are just colors, but purple seems to have a soul - when you look at it, it's looking back at you."
That being said, check out these ten decor accent ideas that will inspire you to invest in adding Ultra Violet to your home!
Front Door
The front door is a simple accent that brightens up and makes your home a lot cozier. It’s also perfect for spring since the weather is ideal for the paint to dry properly. Plus, you can combine it with some flowers, and even a beautiful spring wreath!
You could try DIYing it, but to make sure your door will look impeccable, there’s always the option of hiring a professional painter!
Couch
It’s really easy to update your living room once you find the right couch! And let me tell you something: I found this gorgeous option (on a great budget, I also must add) for you to try this look in your own living room. You can decorate around it with:
- Pillows and cushions
- Gallery wall art
- Houseplants and flowers
Rug
There are oh so many ways to transform your home with a rug and the Ultra Violet option is definitely on the list! It makes for a beautiful accent that can blend in with some other items, such as the cushions and wall art, like in the picture above. This rug will be the best pick if you want to give your room a spring-like look without having to overthink your whole decor!
Curtains
Curtains are also a way to add an accent to the room without needing much effort. These purple curtains are beautiful and they can create either a bold + homy look or a romantic + intimate one. It’ll depend on your own style, and what room you’re decorating. I’d recommend:
- Relaxing living room: Purple curtains contrasted with light blue flowers + some purple pillows
- Bold living room: To really give this room a reason to be talked about, combine the Ultra Violet curtains with yellow and orange flowers, cushions, and a huge piece of artwork on the wall
- Romantic master bedroom: The Ultra Violet curtains with purple candles (as seen above), also purple bedding (but with a lighter shade of purple), and a couple of light pink flowers
Dining Table
An Ultra Violet dining table can be quite an investment, though it is truly gorgeous! If you’re willing to go for it, we totally support you, but…
As a side option, I decided to show you this round purple end table that you can use:
- To decorate your entryway
- As a vanity table in the bedroom
- As a side table to the living room couch
- As an outdoor table for your porch (or backyard deck)
Chairs
I had talked about how using a pink accent would be beautiful to update your dining room, the same goes for Ultra Violet. The difference will be that, while pink is more romantic, Ultra Violet is more energetic. I actually found this set of 4 chairs that will give you the look right away!
Vases
This is probably the simplest (and most affordable) alternative to add an Ultra Violet decor accent to your home. A flower vase can go anywhere in the house - more than one place, actually - and it’s beautiful. Whatever color of flowers you pick will be beautiful with it!
There’s more:
The one from the picture here is gorgeous, but I found this equally beautiful option that’s a lot cheaper!
Headboard
This colorful, vibrant bedroom is a spring dream! I love how the Ultra Violet headboard doesn’t completely steal the show, but still manages to get the attention, and you can also have that in your bedroom with two options:
- An actual headboard
- An Ultra Violet slipcover you can simply put over your current headboard
Bedding
While we’re talking about bedrooms, we definitely had to talk about the bedding. Changing your bedding is a simple way to bring life to the room, while also making it stylish! The option I chose here is a bit fancier than the one from the inspiration photo above, despite that, it still stays within a great budget.
Bathroom Wall
Of course, one of the most common ways you’ll find to update a room is: painting the walls! Ultra Violet combined with yellow makes for a great, modern bathroom. You just need to find the right paint and a good service and your dream will come true!
Bonus: Go All In
Sure, you can also go a bit more dramatic and all in with the color of the year! This is one of the few colors that actually allows you to use it all at once without making you feel overwhelmed by looking at the room. I simply love it! What about you, would you try it at home?
