About this pro

Established in 1987, our framing company had the privilege of constructing well over 500 homes in Harford, Baltimore and Cecil Counties. As our company grew and times changed, we evolved into a full-service construction company. Our ability to save you money on the construction of your new home and home improvement projects comes from being closely interwoven with our staff, trades, customers and timely scheduling.

We offer green building products such as solar and geothermal, keeping a constant eye on new products and the cost of quality materials. This gives us the ability to pass valuable savings onto the customer. Our custom homes are unmatched in quality, pricing and design. Our additions add character, value and elegance to your home. A custom-finished basement can bring added square footage of living space to your home without building an addition. We can build your custom sports bar at your home in any design.

Best Questions to Ask a Remodeler Contractor

Is your bill for Additions and Remodels in Joppa an estimate or a final price?

This is very important, since an estimate is just that. Many contractors will submit a "paper estimate", meaning they've written the estimate down on paper. The bill is the true amount owed and will almost always say "Invoice" or "Bill" at the top of the page. The bill should also list the date it was issued, the due date of payment, and a list of services rendered.

How many contractors do you have working for you? How many vehicles are in your fleet?

This is important mostly for larger jobs. Clearly a two man operation is going to build a home much slower than a 15 man crew. This is also a good indication of the overall size of the Additions and Remodels company, if that's an area of concern for you. The reason you may want to ask about the fleet is that fleet size is a good indicator of the mobility of the company. Mobility may not sound important, but it's hard for the Joppa contractors to get to job sites if they lack appropriate vehicles.

What guarantees and/or warranties can you give me? Are you a warranty agent for any brands?

These first two questions should only relate to services or good purchased directly from the service provider. Many products carry their own warranties, like roofing shingles or siding. It's useful to know what these warranties cover as well as how long they last. The "warranty agent" question is important, because often warranty agents work with the manufacturer to get you repairs under warranty at a much lower price.

Are you union or non-union?

This really only matters if you have a preference, but it is good to ask. If you have a strong ideological belief about unions or nonunions, it's perfectly acceptable to make a decision based on the preference.
