This is a small area of a bathroom that was started but never finished. We have all the supplies, we just need a technician to finish the work. The work was started by us, but our schedules do not allow us time to finish.
Interior Tile Work
Mark d W.
Houma, LA
Had home inspection done for sale of house. Some notes relate to master bathroom tile, copied below. Would like to have area checked for presence of mold. Tile repaired and grout lines resealed.
Copy of inspector notes:
Moisture stains noted outside master shower enclosure, recommend clean and seal glass/gaskets from interior and monitor. The presence, requirement and/or enforcement of a shower pan is unknown. Pan tests are never performed due to potential or hidden damage and possible liabilities. All grout lines, hairline cracks, hardware penetrations, transitions, escutcheons, tub spouts and joints must be maintained to inhibit unseen moisture penetration behind the tile. The shower head diverter in the master shower did not function propely when rotated between the two different shower heads. This may be just debris in the line, clean and retest.
Minor
Tile Work
Elevated moisture found behind master tile walls. This is a common occurrence. As grout lines shrink, water wicks in hairline cracks and gets behind the tile. To compound the issue, the tub rim tilesare negatively pitched that will push water behind the framing. Some tiles have become disbonded, which may be an indication of chronic moisture intrusion. Interior wall condition unknown. Recommend tile contractor remove tile for full damage/mold growth discovery and repair/replace as necessary. We recommend that grout lines, cracks, gaps, etc. be resealed and maintained. Interior wall conditions unknown. Home improvement stores sell a grout sealing kit that will seal grout line cracks prevent moisture intrusion behind the tile. Corners, larger grout line cracks or gaps should be caulked.
