We all love dip. Be it as an appetizer, part of a meal, or game day, dip is loved by all households. Chips and dip, raw veggies, or fondue, there is a food-dip pairing to satisfy your friends and family. But what type of dip to put out? One of the most versatile dips is the classic salsa. It is hands down the most popular of the cold dip recipes. No matter what you add or don’t add, it’s hard to mess up salsa.

The main ingredients are the tomatoes and onions (to the point where some people just make that) and then you can basically add whatever you want to the recipe. Here is just one basic recipe to get you started. Follow as needed.

  • Tomatoes, canned or diced
  • Red onions, finely chopped
  • Cilantro
  • Jalapeno
  • Lime juice
  • Optional:
  • Corn
  • Beans
  • Hotter peppers
  • Bell peppers
  • Vegetable oil
  • Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Pepper

This delicious treat is perfect for when the game is on. Now because it’s so thick, you will have to upgrade your chip game to match the consistency of this party favorite. Try breadsticks, baguette slices, or hearty tortilla chips to avoid breakage.

As far as hot dip recipes go, this one isn’t terribly unhealthy. It’s just that the main ingredient is cream cheese. Speaking of ingredients, here’s what you need to whip up buffalo chicken dip:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
  • ½ cup blue cheese (or ranch) dressing
  • ½ cup hot sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheese

Hot Crab Rangoon Dip

For a truly heavenly dip reminiscent of great Chinese food, try this hot crab rangoon dip. It’s all the joy of eating crab rangoon, but hotter (and as dip). This is one of our favorite hot dip recipes we’ve come across. The ingredients are a little complicated, but you’ll figure it out. They are as follows.

  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar, muenster, and/or Monterey jack cheese
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz. crab meat (alternatively, canned or imitation will work)
  • ¼ cup half and half
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Artichoke Dip

Here’s another great thick dip that can satisfy any party. Many of these entries are dip recipes with cream cheese. And this one’s no different. After all, is there any other way to enjoy artichokes? Here’s the laundry list of ingredients needed for this recipe.

  • 9-ounce package of frozen artichoke hearts, thawed and drained
  • 1/4 cup panko
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 large shallots
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Guacamole has a bit of a fan club. Some people absolutely love it, and others can live without it. If you’re the former, we went through the different dip recipes for tortilla chips and found the most traditional. Feel free to use different ingredients like onions, cilantro, or jalapeno, or jus add your own flavor.

While not one of the most common dip recipes for parties, seafood lovers are not forgotten in this article. If you have the time and inclination to shuck many clams for their delicious meat, all the power to you. Otherwise you can simply purchase clam meat in a can. This makes it much easier to create delicious dips from it. Here’s what you need to do just that.

  • 24 oz. chopped claims (or 4 cans)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1½ cups sour cream
  • ¼ cup finely chopped chives
  • Pepper to taste

Vegan Roast Beetroot and Walnut Dip

Here’s a healthy vegan option for those with either dietary restrictions or deeply held beliefs. The roast beetroot and walnut dip is sure to make any follower of the vegetarian living very happy. For this recipe you’ll need these ingredients:

  • 2 large beetroot
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 5 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • ½ tsp dried cumin
  • ½ tsp dried coriander
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • ½ large brown onion
